Grants and Awards

The International Society of Hypertension (ISH), Asian Pacific Society of Hypertension (APSH) and the Local Organizing Committee of the Japanese Society of Hypertension (JSH) would like to announce that the following awards and grants will be offered at the ISH 2022 Kyoto based on abstract submission.
If you would like to be considered for one of these awards or grants, please indicate your interest at the same time as abstract submission.
*Requests sent after abstract submission will not be considered.

1. [ISH] Austin Doyle Award

This award was established to recognize the contribution of Austin Doyle, Past President of the ISH and Founding Chairman of the High Blood Pressure Research Council of Australia.

Award Eligibility and Criteria:

1) It will be awarded to a graduate, who is within 5 years of postgraduate qualification. Finalists will be judged to have submitted the best original presentation relevant to clinical medicine at the ISH Biennial Scientific Meeting.
2) The applicant shall give a presentation at the ISH2022 Kyoto and must be willing to join the ISH as a member following receipt of the award. Previous winners of this award are not eligible for nomination a second time.
3) Please upload an official letter certified your status by a head of department when the applicants submit abstracts. (Allowed file types: pdf, jpeg up to 2MB )
4) Duplication is not allowed with ISH New Investigator Oral Presentation Award and ISH 2022 Kyoto Best Oral & Poster Presentation Awards.

2. [ISH] ISH New Investigator Oral Presentation Award

This award was established in 2012 to encourage New Investigators and recognize excellence in scientific contribution.

Award Eligibility and Criteria:

1) It will be awarded at the ISH Biennial Scientific Meetings to a New Investigator judged to have given the best oral presentation among finalists. Finalists will be selected from eligible presenters on the basis of the scores of their abstracts.
2) The applicant shall give a presentation at the ISH2022 Kyoto and must be New Investigators who is undertaking a research higher degree or within 10 years of graduation with a doctoral or equivalent qualification.
3) Please upload an official letter certified your status by a head of department when the applicants submit abstracts. (Allowed file types: pdf, jpeg up to 2MB )
4) Duplication is not allowed with Austin Doyle Award and ISH 2022 Kyoto Best Oral & Poster Presentation Awards.

3. [APSH] Young Investigator Award

Young Investigator authors of the top abstracts from APSH member countries will be selected to compete for the Best Oral Presentation Prize. The award winner will be announced during the APSH Awards Ceremony.

Number of available awards: 20

Award Eligibility and Criteria:

1) The APSH Member Societies include Australia, Mainland China, Hong Kong, China, India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Japan, Korea, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Nepal, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan (Province of China) and Thailand.
2) APSH YIA can be requested by presenting authors younger than 35 years old*.
*Born after October 1, 1987.
3) Supporting documents (Proof of research, higher degree student status or date of graduation, or a letter that has been signed by the applicants’ supervisor or head of school) should be uploaded when the applicants submit abstracts. (Allowed file types: pdf, docx, doc. up to 2MB)
4) Duplication is not allowed with ISH 2022 Kyoto YIA, Best Oral and Poster Presentation Awards.

4. [ISH 2022 Kyoto] Young Investigator Award

This award will be offered to encourage Young Investigators and recognize excellence in scientific contribution at the ISH 2022 Kyoto.

Award Eligibility and Criteria:

1) Awardees will be decided on the basis of the scores of abstracts from eligible presenters who indicated intention to application when they submit abstracts.
2) The applicants shall give a presentation at the ISH2022 Kyoto and must be younger than 35 years old*.
* Born after October 1, 1987.
3) Please upload a photocopy of an identity document (Allowed file types: pdf, jpeg up to 2MB )
4) Duplication is not allowed with APSH YIA and ISH 2022 Kyoto Best Oral & Poster Presentation Awards.

5. [ISH 2022 Kyoto] Presenter Travel Grant

ISH 2022 Kyoto will provide travel grants to international participants whose abstracts have been selected for either oral or poster presentations and which have been given higher scores.

Grant Covers:

1. Free registration
2. Hotel accommodation in Kyoto in a single room for a maximum of 3 nights*
3. Travel expenses
– 300 USD for those coming from Asia and Oceania
– 600 USD for those coming from outside of Asia and Oceania
*Those receiving travel grants must stay at the hotel allocated to them by the meeting organizers. No refunds will be given in the case of self-booked rooms in other hotels.

Number of available grants: Up to 250

Grant Eligibility and Criteria:

1) If the same group of authors submit more than one abstract, the grant will be assigned only once.
2) The travel grant can be requested by presenting authors younger than 35 years old* or from low-income and lower-middle-income countries (as defined according to the World Bank Country Classification). Find the list of Countries here.
*Born after October 1, 1987.
3) Only complementary registration will be available if the grant winners cannot participate on-site.
4) A photocopy of an identity document (Allowed file types: pdf, jpeg up to 2MB) must be uploaded when the applicants submit abstracts.
5) Duplication is not allowed with the Global Talent Complementary Registration.

6. [ISH 2022 Kyoto] Global Talent Complementary Registration

ISH 2022 Kyoto will provide complimentary registration to participants from low and lower middle-income countries to encourage their participation in ISH 2022 Kyoto.

Grant Covers: Free registration

Number of available grants: Up to 100

Grant Eligibility and Criteria:

1) Only presenting authors who are from low and lower middle-income countries (as defined according to the World Bank classification) are eligible to apply for the grant.

2) Their abstracts have been selected for either oral or poster presentation and have been given higher scores.
3) This grant is also available to those who cannot come to the venue.
4)Duplication is not allowed with the ISH 2022 Kyoto Presenter Travel Grant.

7. [ISH 2022 Kyoto] Best Oral & Best Poster Presentation Award

All presenters regardless of age and nationality will have a chance to win the award. Candidates will be selected from all presenters based on the scores of abstracts. Award winners will then be selected based on their oral presentation at the award session. The award winners will receive a monetary award and a plaque.
